Clyde’s Lock and Safe Service

I had a lock in a doorknob on a door between the garage and house in which the key no longer worked. Clyde's coached me through the process of determining the pins in the doorknob lock needed replaced. I brought just the one side of the doorknob in for repair and my entire cost was about $15. Their approach saved me over $100 of the cost of having a locksmith come out and they were very educational and helpful in the process. They even gave me tips on how to easily remove one side of the doorknob. I had never removed a doorknob before and felt a lot more confident and self-sufficient afterwards. I wish more places like this existed that could help you save money by repairing something rather than selling you something new that was unnecessary.

I was so glad they could help me out! A neighboring car 1st called the police and they said they would have to break the car's window to help! That seemed unreasonable. Clyde's came right away and he had the ability to unlock my door without destroying anything. A huge thank you to Clyde's lock and safe.

They came through for me! I needed a duplicate key made for a small lock box/safe. Although they weren't able to duplicate it at first, they assured me if I brought the item in they could duplicate the key. I'm glad to say they did!!!
BTW they have an excellent reputation from many people throughout Salem as THE BEST!

Extremely pleasant, capable local business. I came in with a lock core that had a key broken off inside it. Within 5 minutes, they had removed the key, restored the core, and cut me a new key, all at a small fraction of the cost of replacing the core, which I had been prepared to do. Strongly recommend.

We recently had Clyde's out to re-key our office. I'm not sure who I spoke to when I scheduled the appointment, but he was very friendly, polite, and professional. The technician showed up about a half hour later than we scheduled, but that wasn't really an inconvenience because I try to schedule all of our vendors on one day. I also expected as much from a locksmith company. I realize they can't really plan their days when no one knows when they might need their services. Anyway, the re-keying went smoothly and he re-keyed four doors and made about 15 - 20 new keys for us on-site.

I'm giving them three stars because when he arrived, he said it would be easier to re-key with an existing key so I quickly handed him my keys. I didn't realize he didn't return them before he left and I had no car keys to get home. When I realized he must've accidentally kept them, I tried calling and texting but didn't receive a reply. They don't have or monitor any kind of after hours number, so my wife had to drive from Albany to bring me our other set of car keys. We also had to find childcare on the fly for our 3-month old so she didn't have to sit in the car for 30 - 45 minutes both ways. (Thank goodness Grandma lives around the corner.) It was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. I don't understand what kind of locksmith company doesn't have an after hours number.
